Urban Wild
A pop-up temporary garden installation for Milwaukee Avenue Arts Fest. Chicago, IL. 2014.
An urban wild is a remnant ecosystem found amidst a densely developed urban area. Urban wilds emerge in the liminal spaces of vacant lots and untended highway medians. They are typically full of tough, drought tolerant wild urban plants that survive in poor soil conditions. Urban wilds provide valuable ecological services, like filtering urban stormwater runoff, reducing the urban heat island effect, and improving air quality.
